Skyrim weapons where to find them

Smithing can also be used to craft a Dragonbone Greatsword. However, the requirement for a Smithing level of coupled with the Dragon Armor perk can put some fans off this rather tedious method of crafting the weapon. Rounding off the trio of Dragonbone weapons on this list is the Dragonbone Warhammer — a massive two-handed weapon that packs a huge punch with every hit and can obliterate enemies with its massive smash damage.

At this point, it should be obvious how players can get this weapon. As is the case with the other Dragonbone weapons on this list, the Dragonbone Warhammer can be found on the remains of defeated Keepers in the Soul Cairn. Most Daedric weapons in Skyrim can decimate foes with ease, and the Daedric Battleaxe is no exception to this rule.

This axe is easily one of Skyrim 's best two-handed weapons and is extremely easy to obtain once players hit level 30 and above. Most merchants and chests in the game world will start spawning this weapon around this level. Of course, players can go a step beyond and try to get an enchanted Daedric Battleaxe as well.

However, netting this loot involves fighting a powerful dragon, and even then, this drop isn't guaranteed. Does the Dragonborn have a particular hatred of Elves? If so, then Wuuthrad is the perfect weapon to wield. This legendary axe that was once used by Ysgramor can belong to the player if they complete the Glory of the Dead quest.

While they have to place the axe on a statue during the quest, nothing bad happens if they take it for their own before leaving. It can also have extra enchantments placed upon it to make it even stronger. Volendrung is a daedric artifact that has a particularly useful perk as a two-handed weapon. Most of these weapons take a lot of Stamina to use, but this massive hammer absorbs some whenever the Dragonborn lands a hit. While players can eventually manage to find and grant weapons stronger enchantments like this, it's the only way for players that want a full set of Imperial armor to use anything but a sword and shield.

There's a way for the Dragonborn to level up Destruction magic while swinging a weapon. The Darnguard Runehammer is a phenomenal unique weapon that allows the player to place fire runes whenever it's swung. The kind of extra damage this allows can be astronomical and each spell cast does increase the Destruction skill.

Players will be able to find it during the Dawnguard side quest Lost Relic. It can appear in one of seventeen radiant locations and unlike many other unique weapons, it can still be improved at a grindstone. The Ebony Blade can be obtained from one of the darkest quests in the game. It can be found at the end of the bow in the front of the ship, embedded into it.

Magic in Skyrim is pretty powerful in itself, though levelling it up is more tedious than other skills. The Staff of Magnus is one such quest that lets you obtain the powerful Staff of Magnus, which absorbs 20 magicka per second and, if the target is out of magicka, 20 health. Once you have it, though, dueling magic-based enemies is a lot easier.

Aside from being a great expansion in itself, Dawnguard adds plenty of new lore and items that players can go out and explore. For one, its base damage of 13 is one of the highest in the game for bows, making it a great weapon on its own. It also applies 20 points of Sun Damage on the target; a kind of an equivalent to Fire damage in the base game, but still not exactly fire. It deals triple damage to zombie-like enemies, which could be stacked up with perks.

Its draw time is also lower than other bows, making it especially dangerous against enemies like vampires. You can get this bow at the end of the Touching the Sky quest in Dawnguard.

All Skyrim players have a unique style to their gameplay, carefully choosing their weapons and armor to build their own undefeatable Dragonborn. Dual-wielding scimitars, however, are not something chosen by most, as they come with several problems. Still, for the few who have mastered it, the dual-wielded combo of Soulrender and Bloodscythe is too good to miss out on.

Used together, both the scimitars deal damage of 15 points for health and magicka. Both of the swords can be found in the Dragonborn expansion, near the skeletal remains of their previous owner - a pirate called Haknir Death-Brand - at the end of the quest Deathbrand. Available in the Dawnguard expansion, the Dragonbone line of weapons are some of the most powerful base weapons to stack enchantments on. Dragonbone Mace is one such weapon, which features the highest base damage of any one-handed weapon you could craft.

Enchanted with the right enchantments, it makes for possibly the most powerful mace in the game. Besides crafting it at a forge, you can also obtain it after defeating one of the three Keepers in Soul Cairn; a plane in Oblivion that can be accessed during the quest Chasing Echoes.

Depending on your level, the sword can deal a damage of 16, which makes it a formidable weapon once you put some enchantments on it. To get it, you must loot the corpse of Miraak after, of course, defeating him in the final quest of the expansion called At the Summit of Apocrypha.

Unlike other weapons on this list, this one is more unambiguously named, and it delivers what you would expect it to deliver quite effortlessly. Drainblood Battleaxe is one of the four ghost weapons that senior, ghostly Draugrs like to use — the other three being Drainheart Sword, Drainspell Bow, and Ghostblade — and also the most powerful.

With a damage of 21, every blow further absorbs 15 points of health, making it one of the highest damage two-handed weapons in the game. It dishes out frost damage to both health and stamina and has a solid base damage stat of To get your hands on Okin you'll want to do the Silenced Tongues quest.

You can find this by ending Volunruud and exploring around - you'll find notes that'll begin to push you towards the quest. Eventually, you'll obtain this weapon as a reward. There's a decent sister weapon to this too, a sword called Eduj. It drops at the same time. As this weapon's name suggests, this is found as part of the Dawnguard DLC pack. It dishes out sun damage to undead, and the amount of damage it does increases with every undead you've killed with the axe since the last sunrise - a unique effect.

It has some solid damge output too. To get this weapon, simply get involved with the Dawnguard DLC. You'll eventually come across the quest Lost Relic.

These are radiant quests where you're sent to find a random artifact, but if you keep doing these missions you'll eventually get this item. In a cruel twist of fate for you beefy, two-handed wielding weapon lovers, there's less two-handed unique weapons in Skyrim than single handed swords alone. As such, we've grouped them together. There's some pretty tasty battleaxes, greatswords and warhammers available, so here are our picks.

If you're a little bit bias against elves, well, this is the weapon for you. It does even more damage to elves, and that's on top of its nasty base damage stat of It also looks pretty bloody cool, to be honest. You'll want to tackle the quest Glory of the Dead, and to do that you'll have to join The Companions faction.

Glory of the Dead is the final quest for this faction. Once you place the Wuuthrad on the statue, activate the statue - you'll get the Wuuthrad, which was previously a temporary acquisition, back for good. The Rueful Axe is described as an axe powerful enough to have a lot of fun with, and that makes sense - it has a base damage stat of 22 and deals out stamina damage as well.

It can also be upgraded. Once you're level 10 or higher, you'll want to find Lod near Falkreath's entrance. When given the cahcne, kill Barbas with the axe.

You must use the axe to slay him. You get to keep it as a reward. Originally added in the Dragonborn DLC, tis hefty greatsword releases an energy blast whenever you do a powered up attack. Even the energy blast deals out a nasty 30 damage. You'll want to start the main Dragonborn quest and then eventually head to Raven Rock Mine for this sidequest. Chat to Crescius in the entrance to the mine and the quest The Final Descent begins.

You'll find the blade next to the remains of Gratian later in the quest, inside Bloodskal Barrow. This massive hammer has a bit of an evil look about it and has an absolutely ridiculous base damage stat of It also absorbs stamina, very useful for a weapon of this size and this deadly nature. You'll get this weapon as a reward from the Daedric Prince himself as part of the quest The Cursed Tribe. In order to kick this quest off, you'll want to head to the orc stronghold of Largashbur.

Try to save the life of the orc Ugor, who will then help you out and get you on the road with this quest. The Dawnguard Rune Warhammer isn't the most powerful hammer going with its base damage stat of 22, but it's the enchantment that gets us excited. Hitting a surface places a rune on the surface, and that rune explodes to deal fire damage when enemies touch it. All you have to do in order to get this hammer is keep doing the Lost Relic quests that come as part of Dawnguard. These quests are random, but eventually one of them will net you this excellent hammer as loot.

Bows are useful for anybody who isn't just being a meathead run-in-and-swing type in Skyrim and even on occasion useful for those folks too. There's a few with some very useful perks and enchantments. Here's our favourite picks for ranged combat. The Nightingale Bow actually belongs to Karliah, a member of the thieves guild and temporary follower of the dragonborn for some quests for that guild. Its enchantment allows it to freeze and shock the target, which is very handy.

It's a leveled weapon, so its strength will be impacted by your level when you obtain it. The best version is at level 46 and up. To get your hands on Karliah's bow you'll have to join the Thieves Guild and follow its quest line. Towards the end of that series of quests you'll get the quest Blindsighted. This bow is a reward for finishing that quest.

That quest gets you the skeleton key too, so it's a very useful quest indeed. This bow isn't just about its flowery name - it also comes with an enchantment that blesses you for every 20 animals you kill with the bow - ideal for hunting.

The blessing does max out, but it provides significant boosts to health and stamina while the bow is equipped.
