In my last house, we were much closer and I loved being able to run down to the store to grab what I needed for the next section of cabinets while my kids were at school, then put it together that night after they went to bed. Lancaster shaker style door is a very popular style. I love my IKEA kitchen s. We did a Stat kitchen in our old house and just now a Bjorket in the new house.
Why do people bother to put in low quality cabinets? I am not talking about IKEA. It seems to me that it's just throwing your money away. Of course they will look good at first, but they don't last. Better to save for decent quality IMO. I understand having a limited budget we did too but you really do get what you pay for sometimes. IKEA seems to have very positive reviews and a budget friendly price, if it were me, I'd look at them and stay away from places like Cabinets to Go.
I have done 4 ikea Kitchens in 10 years. None show any signs of wear. All function great. Do not use their appliances. I was told by an IKEA sales rep last month that there will be no sale. Apparently the pandemic set them so far back that they don't plan to have a sale. Plus, I have read that over the past year or two they had already pretty much discontinued the big sale.
Instead, they have periodic sales where just portion of the kitchen components are on sale. DH and looked at displays and we were not impressed. We're six months into our Ikea kitchen white Axstad and love it. Everything works great, all the hardware works beautifully and there are no signs of wear. I'd absolutely do it again. The quality today is excellent. We put in the new cabinets here last year Torhamm and they are every bit as good as the old ones, maybe even better with more flexibility and bells and whistles.
I can't tell you how much I love my Ikea kitchen, installed a year ago, and there is zero sign of wear and tear so far. I installed Bodbyn, grey lower cabinets, white uppers. I got estimates for two other lines of cabinets and they would have cost thousands of dollars more, for a small apartment kitchen.
One of the great things about Ikea is that, because it sells such a large volume, it can offer every size and type of cabinet imaginable--felt like I was getting custom cabinets, they fit my space so perfectly.
And it offers lots of bells and whistles like pull-out blind corner cabinets, that are much more expensive elsewhere. One thing to remember about the displays is that they are abused. Seriously abused. ETA: One caveat to this is the Knoxhult "Instant kitchen" cabinets - those are cheap and should be avoided. The comments above refer to the regular Sektion cabinets. We are in the process of buying an IKEA kitchen.

If you have nothing but time I have never heard of the vinegar trick We usually just take a chisel to it and take away as much material as possible, pull any nails and sand. I can't speak for Dalma - however we have them in our home. We had them custom painted with a Sherwin William's color and they look fantastic!

Pros None. Cons Everything. Extremely disorganized! I have spent more time training myself and writing out my own procedures. I should be designing and selling ONLY!! Designers have to do all the ordering and scheduling including scheduling for countertop installs. Not take away from them. Now this one completely baffles me I was asked why I needed one. I should have quit that day.
If you are selling RTA cabinets you need the spec book so you can piece things together - right??? Their system is ridiculously cumbersome and there is no rhyme nor reason. In order to get an estimate for cabinets, countertops, and installation, you have to access 3 different types of programs THEN load it into their horrible and NOT user friendly in the least bit, Netsuite database!
Trying to make a sale here takes forever and is a headache. I have never seen such monotony. Hours are good but, on the other hand they are not. Anybody who has been in this business a while knows in order to make a good living you must work about 50 hours a week, if not more sometimes.
So, just know you are limited to how much you can make because you will be hourly. They pay 3 percent on the total sale. That should tell you something. All that being said Pros Health benefits, closed Sundays for now.

Opened the TN store with no phone, no WiFi and little training, but then pressured to meet unrealistic goals. Cons The owner. Not a great place to work! Worked there for a few months. It wasn't a great fit. The managee was very difficult to get a long with.
He didn't like me and I didn't like him. He was totally unapproachable! Some long term or executive management was good to their employees, but the business does not assist with management that are not. It is a typical small company trying to compete with large corporations, that typically still has small business frame of mind when it comes to motivating their employees, using scare tactics and such.
No wonder they have to use a temp agency to get long term employees. If you are looking for a fast paced job which offers zero training and almost non existent growth then work here. No raises.
